Dear Friends,
If you weren’t at Oscars Pizza Bingo Night you missed a good time! We had 64 people in attendance with many dressing for the occasion to celebrate. I loved seeing the ladies with special jewelry, beautiful gowns and brightly colored dresses. There were also some nice little black dresses, sparkly sequins, fur, gold shoes and stunning period looks. The men shined in jackets, hats, ties and tuxedo shirts. We had a special appearance from Humphrey Bogart (Geoff McConnell) and golf Barbie (Pam Bennett) and a couple from the roaring 20’s (John and Libby Eblacker). Everyone looked fabulous and Oscars worthy!
Guests were transported to the Oscars awards show as they entered the church. Our guest
photographer was on hand for a photo op and Carly Landis popped fresh popcorn for everyone to get into the movies mindset. After graciously picking up 18 pizza pies, Will Sanders spun a big movie theme playlist for all to enjoy as Audrey Sanders greeted guests and checked them in. Jeff Herrera and Tom Riley were our Bingo hosts for the evening and made sure everyone went home with a prize (or three) and even gave out some big-ticket items like tickets to the Iron Pigs, Phantoms and a gift card to Ludwig’s Grill. Many people came together to donate delicious desserts and fabulous prizes both old new and some highly desirable gift cards to Liberty Union, WaWa, Target and Starbuck’s. Everyone had
a blast and got a new to them treasure.
A big event like this requires the work of many hands. A big thanks to all of you for donating desserts, drinks, prizes and your time and talent. Your donations are such a blessing to all of us and make the St. Andrew’s tradition of Pizza Bingo a success and lots of fun. Special shout outs go to a few key players. Thank you to Carly Landis for helping to set-up all of our prizes, clean-up and for running our popcorn machine. Carly works tirelessly and is always willing to do whatever I ask – thank you Carly! Irene Castagna for her artistry and creativity. Without her, our Upper Hall wouldn’t have been transformed the Oscars Night. Thank you for all of your wall hangings, pictures of stars and table decorations Irene! Jeff Herrera and Tom Riley kept the night rolling along with their expert Bingo announcing. Thank you for your energy and enthusiasm Jeff and Tom! A big thank you goes to Chloe Sanders who arranged for our photographers, created our check-in sheet and did a great job helping to decorate and create our balloon arch. Thank you to Audrey Sanders for sweetly greeting all of the guests and collecting money. When you run an event, your spouse always helps run it with you, whether they signed up or not, so thank you Will Sanders for creating our music soundtrack, for doing the pizza pick-up and carrying in the heavy popcorn popper and cart. Thank you to Libby and John Eblacker for hanging up signs, assembling the salad, putting out drinks, carrying the popcorn popper out to the car and staying late to clean up. Mary Lou and Ken Mancini are always asking how to help, and they also stayed late to cleanup and put things away. Thank you to Rob and Beth Butch for donating the sports tickets and for Lee Johnson, Geoff McConnell, Tom Riley, The Eblackers and Julian and Susan Berry-Gorelli for their gift card donations.
For the upcoming Easter season, we look forward to having a champagne reception after the Saturday night Easter Vigil. As always, we need coffee hour hosts, so please sign-up to help host a coffee hour. It is simple but goes a long way to create fellowship among our members. See the sign-up outside the Upper Hall or click here.
